– By car/taxi: There are private luxury cars/taxis from Hanoi to Tuan Chau Island. Travel by private car/taxi from Hanoi to Tuan Chau can take about 2,5-3,5 hours. Price of taxi (7-9 passengers, van or minivan) is about $70-180/car.
– By motorbike: This means of transport is ideal for adventurous expats. If you depart from Hanoi, follow Highway 5 (through Hai Duong) or National Highway 1A (through Bac Ninh) to get to Tuan Chau Island. Remember to bring a map along or carefully follow the map on smartphone instruction in order not to get lost.
– By train: This is the safest way to reach Tuan Chau Island. A Halong Express train ticket at Gia Lam station costs about 120,000 VND/person. However, the ticket price for foreign tourists is more expensive than domestic ones (250,000 – 300,000 VND/person).
